Mobile Care Chicago received the 2022 Anne M. Davis Mobile Health Award and a $10,000 gift from VNA Foundation for its outstanding work delivering no-cost mobile medical and preventive care. Through its efforts, Mobile Care Chicago improves the health of children and families living in low-income households and communities throughout Cook and Lake counties.
During its early days Mobile Care Chicago focused on providing mobile asthma care for children, but over the years—and in response to community feedback—it expanded to add dental care, immunizations, physicals, COVID-19 testing, and harm reduction services. The team recently adopted a “flex van” model with portable equipment, allowing several types of care to be provided from just two vehicles and expanding its ability to respond to whatever are the most pressing needs at any given time. As Executive Director Matt Siemer shared, “What we’re really here to do is to look at specific barriers and address those specific barriers. And if those barriers change, we change too”.
The Anne M. Davis Mobile Health Award, named in honor of a longstanding VNA volunteer and board member, recognizes a Foundation grantee partner that uses mobile health services in a particularly innovative, effective, and impactful way. Mobile Care Chicago easily checks all those boxes, and VNA’s board and staff members are pleased to recognize it with this year’s Anne M. Davis Mobile Health Award.

Davis Mobile Health Award is awarded up to once per year, at the discretion of the VNA Foundation Board of Directors, to a grantee using mobile health services in a particularly innovative, effective and/or impactful way.
