Welcoming Our Newest Board Member

VNA Foundation is excited to welcome Jane Western as its newest Board Member. Jane received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from St. Olaf College, and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Jane brings to VNA a wealth of finance, investment, and nonprofit expertise. Most recently, until her retirement in 2022 she served as the Chief Operating Officer of Northern Trust’s Front Office Solutions (FOS) group. In that role, Jane was responsible for the expansion of the operational infrastructure of FOS, a fintech start-up that provides data analytics and client servicing support.

Before Northern Trust, Jane directed governance and investment operations for Red Cross Investments at the American Red Cross. Prior to that, and for more than a decade, Jane served as Boeing’s Managing Director for Risk Management and Trust Operations, overseeing the company’s pension and 401(k) assets.

In addition to joining the VNA Board of Directors, Jane serves on the Investment Committee for Metropolitan Family Services, the Advisory Board for Community Partners for Affordable Housing, and holds leadership positions at Presbytery of Chicago and First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette. Notably, in her church leadership roles, Jane has had the opportunity to participate in grantmaking, helping review and award grants supporting hunger, homelessness, education, mental health, and other community programs.

In 2013, Jane was recognized as a Distinguished Woman Investment Professional by the Women Investment Professionals (WIP), a Chicago-based women’s industry group, where she held volunteer leadership positions for six years, including as President. As President of WIP, she increased membership, expanded programming, and created the WIP Trailblazer Award.
